On Thursday 15th November 2012 the Academy collapsed the normal timetable to provide a wide range of activities for students in Year 7-9. Known as ECM (Every Child Matters) Days, 6 days in the academic year are dedicated to the study of important issues of health, careers and citizenship. Students may experience seminars, lectures and workshops delivered by visiting experts or some students may visit Universities, Exhibitions or local organisations.
Year 7 students took part in number of workshops focussing on Citizenship. These included domestic violence, celebrating diversity, relationships and marriage.
Year 8 looked at issues around Anti-social Behaviour and Health including drug and alcohol abuse.
Year 9 visited the NEC in Birmingham which hosted a Careers/Skills show.
