The Co-operative Academy has embarked upon a new exciting project and programme of activities with Stoke Spitfires Community Basketball Team.
The Spitfires will be working with our Year 11 BTEC students to deliver Wheelchair Basketball as part of our PE curriculum. We will be the first school in the country to have Parasport on the curriculum.
Sessions will be every week and will also be on the curriculum for a group of Year 8 students. Once the lessons have commenced in early October the Spitfires will promote their wheelchair basketball team and will begin to offer after school coaching sessions for students at the Academy every Thursday evening. 3.30pm-4.30pm. Students will also have many opportunities to train with the Spitfires as they are now based here at the Academy.
Head of Performance, Mr Rogers said "This is a fantastic opportunity for the Academy and for those students who engage in the Activity. To be the first in the country to have a Parasport on the Curriculum is amazing and shows how the Academy is a leader in it's values."
