Transition Transmission Day

Students from our Academy and local primary schools were treated to a cycling showcase on Monday 7th March.

Transition Transmission Day was arranged by Andrew Barratt and Sustrans to engage students and local primary pupils with cycling and scooting.

As part of our work with local primary schools we invited them to the event which had assault courses, learn2rides, fun races and try-a-bike to give students the chance to engage with cycling.

Dr Bike was also in attendance to fix any students bikes to help them ride to school safely and the day climaxed with a Extreme Stunt Bike Show from Danny Butler.

Danny, who has won multiple British and European championships, performed his daredevil show jumping from various objects and risking life and limb - not just his own.

Mrs Garrity, who works on the Sustrans project at the Academy, said “What a brilliant day. The youngsters have loved it and our students have been fantastic.

We’d like to thank Andrew for all his hardwork with the local schools, including our own. It fits beautifully with our ethos of sustainability and our co-operative values - working with Sustrans is a real pleasure.”
