Numeracy News and Fun!

The Numeracy faculty have been very busy over the last few weeks.  For Pi day on 14th March 2017, a series of assemblies and competitions took place around the academy.  Students completed a Pi-rate treasure hunt and entered a Maths joke competition.  During lessons, students completed meaningful numeracy starters which used real life Maths.

There have also been a series of revision days organised by the Maths Excellence Partnership taking place for our Year 11's.  We joined schools from all over the city at Keele university on Saturdays' in March and April called 'Cloud 9' where top performing students in the city came together to improve their grades in some of the most difficult grade 9 Maths.  Mr Riaz accompanied the students to Keele on the Saturdays' and said how useful these were for the students.  In addition, during school day in the same months, 'Super 6' days have been organised with the same purpose, but aimed at grade 6 topics.  Mr Ford and Mrs Godwin took some of our aspiring students and were very impressed with how our students performed.

The countdown to the GCSE's are on!  A reminder that P0 and P6 sessions take place every day in Maths for ANY students wanting to revise and prepare for their exams.  Timetables are on each Maths classroom door.
