Primary School Disco
Last month we invited local primary school pupils to our Academy for a school disco to help celebrate the end of SATS. The disco was organized by our Parents; Teachers and Friends Association and saw Academy staff and students come together to help put on a memorable evening.
Our Co-operative Young Leaders played an integral part, helping sign in visitors and running various stalls, including refreshments. Students in Year 10 also formed a band to perform (who also performed at the Arts and Book Evening) with music teacher Mr. Ward becoming resident DJ for the night.
The event was a great success as it showcases and strengthens the links our Academy has with primary schools in the local area. Head of the PTFA Mrs. Garrity said: “It was a fantastic evening. The primary schools loved it, and our staff and students worked really hard to ensure that the disco was a success. We hope to host more events throughout the year.”
The primary schools who attended were Summerbank Primary School; Forest Park Primary School; Hanley St Luke’s Primary School; Etruscan Primary School and St Mary’s Primary School. One of the pupils’ from Summerbank said: “It was really good and we all had a fantastic time. This is the first time some of us have been to the Co-op Academy and it was very impressive. The band were brilliant—my favourite part.”
